Why I Wrote The Kingdom Prison Wife — Cherry Sha'Ron
3/9/2026

Some books get written because you have a story to tell. This one got written because the story would not leave me alone.
The Kingdom Prison Wife is not based on a true story. But it is based on true feelings. The kind of feelings that women carry quietly — in their chests, in their prayers, in the spaces between what they say out loud and what they actually mean. Paris Holloway is fictional. But every woman who has ever loved somebody harder than they loved her back is going to recognize something in these pages.
I wanted to write a character who was not stupid. Paris is not naive. She is not weak. She is a woman who loved with full information and stayed anyway. There is a difference. And I think a lot of women understand that difference even if they have never said it out loud.
I also wanted to write a story where God was present without being preachy. Faith is not a costume Paris puts on for church and takes off when life gets hard. It is the thing running underneath everything — the reason she keeps showing up, the reason she survives, the reason the ending lands the way it does. God was in every room of this story. I just tried to write it honestly.
